The summer issue of Americas Quarterly—to be released on August 10 and available in all Barnes & Noble bookstores beginning August 15—is dedicated to the many dimensions of sports in the Americas, from the role it plays in diplomacy between nations to its contribution to social development across the hemisphere.
In a preview of the issue, AQ has released two of the articles.
"Ping-Pong Diplomacy," a charticle by Financial Times reporter Andres Schipani, looks at how sports exchanges between the U.S. and Cuba could play an important role in moving diplomacy forward.
Also, with Ollanta Humala taking office tomorrow, AQ shares "The Winter of Peru's Discontent," an on-the-ground account by Caroline Stauffer of how Humala won over the residents of one rural town in southeastern Peru.
AQ's coverage and post-trip analysis of the President's May 2-4 visit.
