Following Tuesday’s election, we believe our mission here at Americas Quarterly is as important as ever.

Since our founding in 2007, we have worked hard to show you the real Latin America – a region where the middle class is now a majority, democracies are strengthening, and the rule of law is slowly but inexorably on the rise. No other publication looks at Latin America in such a nuanced and constructive way. We certainly do not shy away from portraying the region’s challenges, but as a reader recently wrote us – “I’m grateful you are hopeful realists at AQ.” That is a label that we embrace wholeheartedly.

Too often in this campaign, Latin America and its people were caricatured, or portrayed solely as a source of problems and strife. In coming months, you can count on AQ to continue presenting the region as it really is – with all its diversity, problems and opportunities. We will also continue to promote our publication’s core values: democracy, inclusive economic growth and equal rights for all.

We’re grateful for your continued support.

With best regards,

Brian
