Brian Winter

Brian Winter is contributing editor for Americas Quarterly and host of its podcast. The author of several books about Latin American politics and culture, he has been described as “one of the best chroniclers and analysts” of the region by Foreign Affairs. Brian spent a decade living in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico as a journalist before joining the Americas Society and Council of the Americas, where he is the executive vice president. Brian’s books include Why Soccer Matters, a New York Times bestseller he wrote with the Brazilian soccer legend Pelé; The Accidental President of Brazil, co-written with President Fernando Henrique Cardoso; and The Ugliest City You’ll Ever Love, an upcoming book about São Paulo.
